Some places stick with you long after you visit. They keep coming back to mind even after you’ve left. For me, Pittock Mansion is one of those places.
Recently, I was lucky enough to return to the mansion while visiting Vancouver, WA. Portland is only a stone’s throw away, and since I enjoyed my last visit to the Mansion so much, I knew that, being that close, I had to make the trip again. I remembered the history, the beauty, and that stunning view. What struck me most this time was that Pittock Mansion is improving, and these changes are being made in a truly thoughtful manner.
Of course, the view is still spectacular. From the grounds, Portland stretches out below, framed by trees, hills, and, on a clear day, the distant mountains. It is the kind of view that just takes your breath away. You simply stand there and take it in.
